I agree 100% -- it doesn't matter who is "better" -- we should just count our blessings that Gyuri has been recorded and is being shared with jazz piano fans all over the world, thanks to his son's efforts. Good, positive comment.

Guys...its jazz music. Already unpopular as it is...should we be fighting amongst ourselves about it? Causing rifts in an already too-small community? Oscar, this dude, Tatum...whatever, it's all great music right? WHO FUCKING CARES who is better? What determines that? Who plays faster? Who plays more advanced lines? Whatever. It's all great music. Shut up, listen to, and enjoy it. And smile. :)

OK dude -- take a listen to this one: Art Tatum - Cherokee (1949) - here on youtube. Peterson cannot play like this... nobody since Tatum has been able to play jazz piano like Tatum. What do you think? I think Tatum plays more and faster than Peterson. But, I guess bottom line, it doesn't really matter, does it? We enjoy the music and that's what it's all about ... "enjoy yourself, it's later than you think."

OK - I went to the 8 bar blues and listened -- I've been listening to Peterson since '55, so am quite familiar with his playing. He's good -- one of the best. But, what I'm saying is that Gyuri and Peterson are in the same league -- both brilliant - but, I'd rather listen to Gyuri than Peterson. I just like his style better than Oscar's. It's just a personal taste thing, I guess. But, it's OK... you can keep Peterson as number one... but, I'm going to vote for Gyuri. He's my favorite.

I play jazz piano too, i have talked to the son that owns the resturant where the father plays in as well, so im not denying that his talent is way, way up there, but i think it's going to far to say that he can compete with oscar. Go and listen to 8 bar blues, sweet georgia brown by oscar and you will see the difference literally.

Hey, who is this that is comparing this wonderful pianist to Oscar Peterson? I'll admit that he is good, but better than Oscar? Nope, sorry, Oscar is the best that ever laid hands on the ivory, now I tink that this is the best version of Autumn leaves tht i have ever heard, but you need to go back and listen to Oscar again, cuz he is the BEST, in fact Oscar even surpassed his great idol Art Tatum. Most people dont want to admit that he did but yes he has surpassed them all.

Yes, he should have more exposure, but it may be better for us to go see him. I've been playing jazz piano for 52 years and have seen great musicians lose their playing ability because of the stresse and strain of being on the road and being tied to a contract. Stay at the restaurant and have the recording people go to him.

Yes, he was probably classically trained - you can tell, not only from his incredible technique, but by how his hands lift off the keyboard when he's finished -- that's one of the signs.

In a few years (or maybe next year) he'll be known at the Art Tatum of the 21st Century. I've been playing jazz piano for 52 years and I can tell you that he is doing things that no other jazz pianist has done or can do. He's a true jazz artist and has taken jazz piano to a level right up there with Tatum himself. And, he's still very young. I've never seen a left hand like that before -- left hands don't work like his does... he really is an "amazing jazz pianist."
