I've read several articles trying to figure out the science behind packing powder into mortars etc. From what I can make out, they tell you to pack the lifting powder in tightly. They go off with a bang despite being rammed. How is this so? I know if you contain the reaction in a metal pipe, it'll explode but how does all this work together? Packed tightly vs. loosely?
