Description:

A protest over an elementary school near a coal preparation plant led to 12 arrests at the state Capitol in West Virginia on March 16. Protesters want Governor Joe Manchin to call for a new school in the community for Marsh Fork Elementary School students. Manchin says it is a local matter, and urged the Raleigh County School Board to put the issue to a countywide vote.

very well said. mountian top removal is kept hidden from the public. protests are done to recieve attention from the media. they wanted a new school and didnt want to leave till they had it. have you ever seen the beauty of a mountian? sheesh.

While trooper0096 maybe correct that it was a safety issue and they were blocking flow of traffic. Its sad to say but it may be the only way to get national attention. If the sludge was to overflow in Marsh Fork they have less than 6 minutes to fully evacuate the school or else they will all die. Thats just from the flood water not the carcinogens that are present in that water. I still sit back and wonder why so many people are "friends" of coal.

Um no thats not what happened, yelling and blocking the entrance to a public building is a crime. You were disrupting the right of others to move freely in the building and then disturbing the peace with your child like rants and cheers. Your creating these problems for yourself and forcing the police to act. When you resist the police you might get hurt. When you refuse to walk the police will carry you, pretty simple.
